Kids = Washing

I have realised after documenting Jai for the last few days that having kids means lots of washing. I think I already knew that but lately it seems there is more than ever. Maybe it is because I am more tired than normal. Check out how Jai goes about making washing for me.

When I see the fun that is had making the washing it makes doing the washing less of a chore. I must say I am looking forward to summer when we can just do these fun things in nothing more than a nappy.

Apples

I have been reading a book about parenting and this quote really hit home.

"Don't judge October apples in June"

Well doesn't that remind me to be patient and to keep on keeping on!! Constantly going over things that I thought we had already covered and learned. We will get there and there is growth each day - even just a little bit that we can't always see.

Rainy Day Play

This week has been a little wet and rainy outside. This tends to interrupt our outside play somewhat, which always gives me two boys with lots of energy. Here are some photos of how we use up that energy.

You might see two boys with slinkies but they see TAILS. This means they must run round and round the house full speed, seeing if their tails follow. As you can see, it caused great amusement for me too. How simple is that - just tuck a few coils of a spring in their pants and they're away.

Then we decided to embrace the wet and enjoy the puddles. We did have gumboots and overpants to help try and reduce the wetness factor but boys being boys meant they managed to get extremely wet anyway. Good lesson for me - forget the overpants - just take the clothes off.

After this a long soak and play in the bath was a great way to entertain two boys for a very long time. I was trying to get a few jobs done while they were in there but I kept hearing so much giggling as they 'whale fountained/spurted' water at each other that I just stood and listened, instead of getting my jobs done. I think it was a much better use of my time - a very special sound, carved into my memory.

Colin Buchanan

Today we went to our first real concert - Colin Buchanan. It was great. Isaiah loves Colin and we often watch his DVD's and listen to his music at home, singing along and playing the guitar. Isaiah walks around the house claiming that 'God is everywhere' and 'Jesus rocks the world' - all thanks to Colin's music. How cool is that!
So today we went to Toowoomba and enjoyed Colin's crazy antics on stage. Then we lined up for what seemed like a long time and Colin signed Isaiah's guitar for us. (Bad mum forgot the camera so used the phone to capture this moment, sorry it's so average)

Here is a better photo showing his very special guitar!

Garden Update

Here is our garden so far. The first crop of potatoes have popped their heads out of ground, the brocolli is growing nicely and we planted the second crop of pototoes, some tomatoes and rosellas. And we are almost out of room. I think what we have might be only a quarter of what we need, when I start to think all the things I want to grow this summer.

Both the boys are loving being in the garden - Jai loves to help watering (actually he just likes to get himself really wet)

Wildlife!!

We were surrounded by so much wildlife while we were camping. We heard so many different birds, mating koalas and so much more. We actually even spotted a couple of those noisey koalas. Here is one with her baby. How very cute. They were about 10m away from our camp kitchen, just watching the goings on.
We also saw two goanna's wrestling. We aren't sure if it was a mating ritual going on in front of us or a fight for territory. Either way, it went on for about 45mins and was so interesting to watch. Then it happened again the next day in the same spot, at almost the same time!! Interesting. I need to do some research to find out just what exactly they were up to!
What a great learning experience for our boys!
